I am so excited for a great year at Cherokee Elementary! The 2017-2018 school year will be my second year as a teacher. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama in April 2016. There I received a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I completed my first year of teaching at Van Wert Elementary School teaching 4th grade Social Studies and ELA. I am very excited about teaching in Polk School District again this year!
I married my high school sweetheart, Andrew, almost three years ago. We do not have any children yet, but we have two dogs and two cats to keep us busy. We are huge animal lovers! Outside of work, I love spending time with Andrew, family, and friends. I also love to travel and be outdoors! Some of my favorite activities are kayaking, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding. I enjoy going to church and my faith is a big part of who I am.
One of my favorite quotes by George Evans is, “Every student can learn. Just not on the same day, or in the same way.” As an educator, I understand that all children have different needs and learning styles. I will always do my best to meet various accommodations for all my students. I will strive to create a learning environment that is positive, safe, and welcoming!
