My name is Mrs. Rhonda Hulsey. I have been teaching in Rockmart for 27 yrs. I began teaching at Goodyear Elementary and I have been at Van Wert Elementary since it opened in 2009.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from West Georgia College, my Master's Degree from JSU, and my Specialist's degree from JSU. I have taught first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades.

I am married to Robert B. Hulsey and we have two daughters, Michelle Hulsey Brewster of Rome Ga. and Kathy Hulsey Schwandt of New Orleans, LA. We have three amazing grandchildren, Pierce (16), Preslie(14) and Charlotte Ann (3).  I love teaching my First Grade students'.  I also enjoy reading, swimming, spending time at our lakehouse with family and being involved in our church. I am a HUGE GEORGIA fan!!!!  GO DAWGS :)  I look forward to an awesome year in First Grade.

Philosophy of Education
Teaching young minds is a task that cannot be taken lightly. It is full of challenges, frustrations, and responsibilities. However, it is a task that is also full of excitement, wonder, and joy. I strongly believe that all children are capable of learning. As a teacher I am aware of learning, motivation, behavior, and development theories in order to relate to my students and push them to reach their full potential. It is my duty to see that all of my students are being motivated. They deserve my time and full attention in regards to their education. I also have created a classroom that is a safe learning environment for all. I want my students to feel safe in my classroom, whether it is emotionally, physically, or socially. From my educational experiences, I know how valuable teacher encouragement and motivation is in the classroom. I try my best to motivate my students while teaching them to be intrinsically motivated through challenging yet supportive lessons and assignments.
