Polk School District has replaced the Accelerated Reader program with a program called Myon. This program can assess student lexile levels and coordinate them with student reading preferences. The program begins by giving each student an interest survey to assess what the student likes to read. The program then gives them a lexile test. Their score can be found on their account information tab whenever you sign in. The program takes the information from both of these tests and creates a recommended reading list for the student. Reading from this list will maximum student reading growth. After 2 weeks from the last lexile test, students who have either read 5 books or 3 hours will be given another lexile test. This program will chart their growth or decline. After the test, the program also adjusts the recommended book list to reflect the results.
This is a great tool for all students to use. You can access myon from the link below. Students will need their lunch ID number to use for their username. Their password will be myon.
