Hero Essay

Today, we are going to write about one  hero on September 11, 2001.  First of all, you need to begin with an introductory paragraph. In this paragraph, I want you to get my attention. Don’t use a question to do this. Here are some examples of how you can get the reader’s attention:

Before considering X it is important to note Y, By the same token, …, But we should also consider, …, Despite these criticisms, …it’s popularity remains high.,Certainly, there is no shortage of disagreement within…

So, paragraph one is to get my attention (I am the reader). Don’t write in first person using the word I either. In paragraph one, you should be explaining what happened on that day, and that you are going to discuss who a hero was on that day.

Paragraph two should be about the hero. Tell me who they are. Cite evidence showing me what time of day you saw this on the timeline too. Also, make sure you explain what they did.

Paragraph 3 should be about  why you chose them  as a hero. Paragraph two explains what they did, but why did you choose this as being what a hero would do?

Remember, use RACE to write this. Your question is:  Who was a hero on September 11, 2001?

R-restate the question, A-answer the question, C-cite your evidence, E-explain your evidence
