Floyd County Association Wrestling:
All Member Teams should follow all rules that govern wrestling according to the NFHS and GHSA.
Teams will use the listed weight classes for home matches and tournaments.

There will be an Area Association Tournament to be held the Saturday of the High School State Duals in January (the actual tournament date may change if necessary, but it must be held on Saturday unless inclement weather interferes).
A. There will be no combining of weight-classes due to lack of competitors. If there is only one wrestler in a weight class, that wrestler will be given first place and an “exhibition” match will be lined up if possible.
B. Each school will be allowed to enter one competitor per weight class.
C. Weigh-ins for the Area Tournament will be done at the tournament site. Weigh-ins will be certified/conducted by the head official or Tournament director with the presence of another coach. There must be two schools present at the tournament site for a weigh-in to be official. All scales used for weigh-in must be certified scales. If a wrestler does not make weight, that spot becomes a forfeit, according to Rule10-Section 2-Article 7(NFHS Rule Book).
1. Regular Tournaments- Weigh-INS will be done the night before by the head coach.
2. Weights of wrestlers may be contested by opposing coaches and weighed on site.
3. Growth allowance will be 2 pounds after January 1st in accordance with GHSA rule book.
D. There should be a Coach’s meeting held before the tournament to seed brackets and enter all wrestlers. No wrestlers will be entered after this meeting unless there is an illness or death in the immediate family.

E. The tournament should have full wrestle backs.
F. The top two teams will be awarded trophies from the FCAA. Any individual medals will be at the discretion and cost of the individual schools and their own players.
G. Entry Fee should be set at $175.00 to offset the cost of awards/officials.
H. Gate Admission should be set at $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.
I. Official scorekeepers, clock operators, and judges will be adults. Exception would be one adult at each table during matches.
J. If a school/team has to cancel a scheduled dual, the coach will give written (fax) notification within 96 hours of the meet to: league director, his principal, the opposing principal and opposing coach. Emergency cancellations are handled differently.
K. Failing to meet the above requirements will result in the canceling team forfeiting the dual meet and paying all referee fees.
L. All matches will be four (4) minutes in length. The first period will be two (2). The second and third periods will be one (1) minute each.
1. Consolation matches will be (1) minute- (1) minute- (1) minute each
M. Overtime procedures will follow GHSA rule book.
N. All rules not covered will follow GHSA and NFHS rule books.
Tournament Draw will be as listed.
In the event a team withdraws the draw goes to the next team listed and rotation continues to next teams on list.
Member schools are encouraged, but not required, to field a team in wrestling. Wrestling teams may compete in 60% of the matches allowed in varsity competition.
