Leonardo da Vinci once said, "Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets." My philosophy of education correlates with his belief. As an educator, I feel it is my duty to help students become life-long learners. I feel as if children need guidance in learning how to learn. I feel educators need to emmerse students with literature, provide access to nonfiction materials such as biographies, magazine articles, newspapers, reputable websites, medical journals, and any type of literature they can enjoy and gain knowledge. I feel I need to facilitate their learning by giving them freedom to learn in various ways and to also allow them to grapple with text they don't immediately understand. I need to show them it is natural to go through trial a trial and error process while learning new things. Students need a comfortable, safe environment to promote optimal learning.
