I received my Bachelor of Science degree from North Georgia College in 1988. I received a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood from Brenau College and later received an Educational Specialist degree in form Jacksonville State University, both in Early Childhood Education. I later added on my gifted endorsement and took Mrs. Dixie Plant’s job as the gifted teacher at Goodyear and Eastside. I was named teacher of the year at Eastside Elementary and nominated for teacher of the year at Goodyear. This is my 29 year and I will retire after next year. This career has been the upmost rewarding career I could have chosen. It has let me be a mom, and at the same time, has given me so much joy and inspiration.
My philosophy in education has always been to try to see each gift in each child because we all have some type of gift. I believe in speaking and talking to children like I would speak to an adult and treat them with upmost respect and therefore they will treat you with respect. Most of all , let the children know that you love them and have their best interest at heart and they will do their best to perform well academically for you. Technology is important in today’s society, but it is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivation them, the teacher is still the most important!!
