Educational Philosophy

Pamela Bodiford’s Educational Philosophy

As a teacher to students with exceptional learning needs at Van Wert Elementary, I promise to provide each student with a nurturing and caring environment based on their specific and unique individual needs.  I also promise to provide each student an education that is specifically based on their learning needs and strengths while providing an opportunity for each student to achieve success.  I will set my expectations high for each student and not expect or allow failure.  Moreover, I promise to allow each student the opportunity to actively explore in the learning process through hands-on, inquisitive based learning.  I also pledge to use scientifically based research to provide the necessary modifications needed to help each student learn and grow in his/her academic career.

For the caregivers of children with exceptional needs, I promise to adhere to the highest standard of quality of learning for each child in my classroom.  I also guarantee that all caretakers and other professionals will be included in educational decisions that are made in the best interest of each student.  I also promise to make educational decisions to the best of my ability with the student’s best interest in mind.  Most importantly, I pledge to adhere to a high level of confidentiality and write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to the best of my ability.

Lastly, I promise to be an active member in the special education community constantly learning and improving.  I promise to be a lifelong learner and stay currently informed on new special education laws and changes to better teach my students.  I also guarantee that I will do everything within my ability as a special educator to students with exceptional needs to guarantee each student a chance to learn, grow, and become as independent as possible in the school and community.
