This week we are reviewing the place value chart to the thousandths place.  We will tie in our study of fractions and how they are related to decimal fractions.  We are working on reading visual models and writing the appropriate fractions and decimal fractions that correlate to that model.

We will also review multiplying multi-digit numbers by a single digit number.  This is a skill that will help us when we are finding the area of certain 2 dimensional figures. We are learning how to multiply using the box method strategy.


Let's look at the following problem:  35 x 7

Step 1:  Decompose 35 (expanded form) 30 and 5

Step 2:  Multiply 30 x's 7 and 5 x's 7.  Put the answers in the box below.

Step 3: Add the partial products back together to get the final answer.
