I am looking forward to presenting again at this year's Mobile Minds University. My session this year is titled "Increasing LIteracy in the Non-ELA Classroom" where I aim to support non-English teachers in the responsibility of addressing literacy in their respective classrooms. Below is a summary of what this workshop contains, and I hope to see many of you there July 25, 26, and 27 at Rockmart Middle School.
The subject of literacy is one of education’s biggest priorities as schools work to ensure that all students reach growing literacy goals. This session will focus on how teachers of all subjects and grade levels can appropriately address and increase literacy in their classrooms. Participants will learn about a variety of ways to engage students in literacy-based lessons without having to “become an English teacher” and without having to give up valuable class time to address these standards and needs. Participants will also receive classroom-ready tools, strategies, and stations-based activities to immediately adopt into their respective classrooms. No matter what you teach, you are able to address the growing need of ensuring our students are on-grade level with literacy skills, and this session will arm you with tools to make this a priority and success in your classroom.
