Word Study focus skill with spelling words this week: 

Short vowels, different patterns-/tch/- (catch, stitch, scratch, stretch),

/vowel,vowel, ch/- (coach, peach, roach, speech),

/consonant, consonant, ch/- (bench, branch)  

Vocabulary Words of the Week:


Oviparous- Animals that come from eggs

Mammals- Animals that give live birth

Dictionary- reference book, abc order, gives the meaning, spelling, and pronunciation of a word.

Atlas-a collection of maps and charts

Thesaurus-a reference book about words with similar meanings

Encyclopedia- reference book containing information on all types of knowledge, several volumes of books (animals, science, music)

Vocabulary from Mummies-

Mummy- a noun, that means a dead body that was prepared a long time ago

Pharoh- a noun, an Egyptian King

Ancient- an adjective, means very, very old

x-ray- a noun, that means a special picture of what’s inside our bodies

*This week we will finish our research about a topic and use materials in the library. We will learn about mammals and oviparous animals and more about the one we chose to research.

*** If your child’s transportation changes, please write a note in your child’s agenda.

**Homework- Please make sure your turns in reading log folder every Friday. Students that do not turn their folders in on Friday will receive a zero for their homework grade for the week and lose their recess time that day.

***Classroom needs- Kleenex, Clorox wipes, pencils

***Has your child read 150 books? Every child should have read 100 books in their reading folder, if your child has not he/she is behind!

Our goal now is 200 books!

*Homework- Read, Read, Read, and write & sign in your reading log folder!! Every student should have 6 this week- 2 library books written 3x each.

*Reading Log Folders-Please read library books (your child can read each library books up to 3 times, that will count as 6 total books a week). Make sure to record these in the folder. If your child has read 50 books he/she will receive or get to wear their red hat to school on Friday!! For every 100, 150, 200 books your child will receive a pin to attach to their red hats. Read, Read, Read!!!!
