Welcome back!  Today we reviewed rules and procedures.  Please bring pencils, a black and white composition book, and a glue stick to class. 

August 9, 2017

Today we finished going over the expectations and procedures for my classroom.  Then we watched a quick video called "The Land and Fossils" on the Georgia Stories website (see video resources on the main page).  Next, we started a brainstorming session listing everything we know about the state of Georgia using a circle map. 

August 10, 2017

After playing the circle map game (1st period won), we began work on our IAN (interactive notebook).  We started with SS8G1a.  Please see your folder in the classroom to get the powerpoint notes.  They are also located under the Unit 1 page on the left-hand side of this website.  To finish, the students wrote a paragraph describing where their location if they met in alien in outerspace.  They had to tell the alien their hemispheres, continent, nation, and region.

We finished writing our alien paragraphs and turned them into Mrs. Levy.  Next, we started taking notes about the 5 geographic regions of Georgia.  We labeled the areas on a handout map and glued them into our IANs.  We also watched a Georgia Stories video about the Appalachian Plateau region "The Geology of Georgia."
