Multiples

What is the differences between Multiples and Factors?  Watch this video to help you understand.

Multiples:

In class, we are use to skip counting to help with our multiplication facts.  We are actually listing the multiples of each fact.

Example:  The multiples of 4 are as follows:

4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, ....and so on.

Factors:

In the problem 5 x 4 = 20

5 and 4 are the factors and 20 is the product.

Factoring is like breaking a number apart or decomposing as the product of its factors.  Those factors are either Prime numbers or Composite numbers.
