Homework Tips

Your child will have homework in math Monday thru Thursday. This should not take more than 20 minutes to complete. My purpose for assigning homework is to allow you to see what we have covered in class each day. This allows you the opportunity to review with your child and see the progress they are making on achieving the standards. I understand there are times when you may not understand the process they are using to complete the assignment, so it is difficult for you to help them the way they are doing it. The strategies that they are using to solve task are the strategies that they will be tested over. The CCGPS is all about the thinking process, so the final answer is not always the most important outcome. You can always send me a note letting me know they struggled with it. We always review the prior day's skills the next day, so they will be able to get help on it in the classroom. I also understand life gets stressful sometimes and there may be an occassion where they forget it or don't get it completed. Once or twice in a grading period is acceptable, but not weekly. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am always here to help!
