Each student in our class has a clip with his/her name. Each day, our clips start on YELLOW for GOOD choices. We start on YELLOW so that we can all strive to make additional awesome choices! Your child's clip may stay on YELLOW all day. This means that they have had a GOOD day and they have made GOOD choices. Please remember that if your child's clip is on YELLOW at the end of the day, this DOES NOT mean that they moved their clip down.
If students go above and beyond expected behavior or if they make an awesome choice such as helping a friend, sharing items without being asked, or showing other positive character traits, they will be recognized for their good choice by moving his/her clip up to GREEN which means that have had an AWESOME day!
If a student struggles to make a good choice such as talking during quiet times, being off task, or disrupting others, they will be given a warning. If their behavior continues, they will be asked to move their clip down to ORANGE and will have 5 minutes of TIMEOUT. Students do have the chance to move their clip back to YELLOW if they can correct their mistake and show good self control for the remainder of the day.
If negative choices continue, students will receive 1 warning before their clip moves to RED and will have a 10 minute TIMEOUT. At this point, parents are also contacted through a note in student agendas, a phone call, or email. If negative behavior continues, a parent/teacher conference may be scheduled.
If a student continues to make negative choices after time out and contacting parents, or if they hurt/injure another student in any way, they will move their clip to BLUE and will be sent to the OFFICE. An administrator will then assign a consequence and parents will be contacted. Multiple office referrals may result in out of school suspension.
