MMU 2015 Workshop Resources

I had the pleasure of leading a workshop at Polk School District's 2nd annual Mobile Minds University that focused on the use of technology to create data-driven assessment opportunities for classroom teachers. This presentation and the resources provided are valuable tools for all classroom teachers who are looking to find quick, easy, and powerful ways to collect data to make informed decisions based on student performance. Many of the tools suggested below are free of charge while a few have a monetary component, however please explore these resources to find new ways to ensure that your classroom is data-driven based on daily student performance.

Standardizing Testing is a

A workshop geared to using 21st century technology

to create data-driven assessments for today's teachers.

Icon Name Description/Notes
Answer Garden A tool for online brainstorming for polling. Use it in real time to see student feedback on questions.
Coggle A mind-mapping tool designed to help understand student thinking to provide informal feedback as students outline and map out responses.
Conceptboard Use to facilitate team collaboration visually. This is similar to mind-mapping but this uses visual and textual inputs.
eduCanon Insert questions at any point during a video clip using this web-based tool. This takes a passive video to an interactive level to maintain engagement and to provide teachers with data.
Exit Ticket This is a student response system that provides data for interventions and to differentiate for every student instantly.
For All Rubrics Import, create, and score rubrics from any device. Collect data (even offline!), compute scores automatically, and print or save rubrics.
Formative Feedback for Learning Foster and encourage communication between students and teachers for data-driven feedback.
iBrainstorm This tool allows students to collaborate on projects and is a great tool for teachers to join in on the collaboration as well. Ongoing assessment occurs while students' work develops.
Infuse Learning Use this tool to engage all students from any device while also gathering valuable formative feedback along the way.
Mentimeter Increase student engagement by using any device to poll and survey students on any question asked by students or teachers.
Plickers In a bind with technology? Plickers lets you collect real-time assessment data without the need for 1:1 technology by still granting data-driven feedback.
Poll Everywhere Create a feedback poll or ask questions through this tool. Students can respond in various ways with results in real time. Capture data, aggregate results, and do even more through many devices.
Quick Key Create assessments through any devicea nd use your device to automatically scan and grade student assessments with data automatically aggregated and generated for instructional planning.
Socrative Engage students through exercises and games from any device. This tool can also serve as informal or formal assessment in real time with the data automatically generated for teacher use.
Todays Meet This online collaboration tool creates a "room" where students can share ideas, answers, and thoughts to instruction. Teachers can view results in real time for evidence of learning.
Verso Want to flip and provide collaboration for students and yourself? This tool grands that design to allow collaboration in a flipped environment with teacher facilitation and collaboration included.
XMind This tool is similar to Coggle's mind-mapping capabilities but works with Apple and Office programs to export data into other software for teacher use.
Zaption Use entire videos, clips, or a series of clips to instruct, engage, and assess students easily. Students' responses are aggregated and available for teachers to use to analyze student learning.

teachers have  preferences and need  tools for  reasons.

All of these tools are  to ensure data-driven classrooms.

Don't know where to ?

The three tools below are great starting points to get your feet wet and to tackle all areas of the classroom environment without overburdening yourself with tech tools.
