Who are Targets?
•Targets of bullying are often insecure, introverted, and anxious.
•They tend to have a weak self-concept.
•They usually do not defend themselves or retaliate.
•They tend to be weaker than their peers, both physically and emotionally.
•They perceive parent or teacher intervention to be ineffective or useless.
•They are unlikely to report incidences of bullying.
Recognizing Target behavior:
•Appears to be generally unhappy about school
•Feels apprehensive about going to school
•Has physical complaints so as to avoid school
•Deteriorating school performance
•Less interest in school or assignments
•Becomes emotional for the smallest reasons
•Has bruises on the body without explanations
•Reluctant to join peers
•Makes self-defeating comments
•Unusually negative about issues
