View Events/Assignments for 

English Language Arts is the study of phonemic awareness, reading fluency, reading comprehension and writing in a variety of genres. 

We will be using the Fry First 200 Sight Word list to build our knowledge of sight words. Research shows that sight word recognition skills help learners read irregular words, words that are governed by more complex spelling and longer complex words.  

What are we doing in Reading/Language Arts?
  • Learning Targets
    • Read:  Danny and the Dinosaur and Metal Man
    • Phonics: Review, Assessment, /j/, Floss Rule, /v/ Final ve
    • Sight Words: there, use, an, each, which, boy, follow, came, want, show
    • Vocabulary: 
      • sizzle: make a hissing sound when cooking.
      • grit: to close your eyes or mouth really hard.
      • yank: to pull something really hard.
      • charred: burnt and black on the outside.
    • Grammar: Verb Endings
    • Writing: Narrative Beginning/Middle/End of a story, Finalize Narrative Writing
