Description:

Students visit the media center on a flexible schedule. Therefore, students utilize the media center as needed with permission from a teacher. 

Mission Statement: The mission of Northside's Media Program is to serve the school community with excellence by promoting an understanding and a love for literature. In addition, the program provides learning opportunities which encourage independent access, evaluation, and utilization of information from a variety of resources including print, multimedia and telecommunications.

Goals: The Northside Media Program will...

~aid students in acquiring information literacy skills that will empower intellectual, academic, and personal growth.

~provide access to information, resources and materials that support the curriculum.

~employ instructional practices that have an impact on student achievement.

~support the staff by providing collaborative planning, co-teaching, and co-assessment tools.

~provide an environment where students and staff feel comfortable seeking out information related to their academic needs or personal interests.

~provide the resources and personal assistance needed for students and teachers to locate, evaluate and apply information.

    myON reader is a platform that offers a digital library of 3,000+ online books from over 20 publishers. Each title is "digitally enhanced," meaning that the system will highlight the text as it reads, and students have the ability to look up definitions. The platform recommends books based on the students' interests on categories such as fiction, non-fiction, and different subject matters. Check out the two videos below:
