  • Possible Snow Day Assignment 1/17/18

    1. Read the two selections of two-sentence horror stories below. Be able to identify key elements of SETTING that represent Dark Romanticism:

    “I was having a pleasant dream when what sounded like hammering woke me. After that I could barely hear the muffled sound of dirt covering the coffin over my own screams”

    “You get home, tired after a long day’s work and ready for a relaxing night alone. You reach for the light switch, but another hand is already there.”

     

    2.  Select a setting from the above options. Write a paragraph that expands the description of the setting by adding specific details and vivid imagery. Experiment with punctuation and sentence length to create suspense. The paragraph should contain approximately 125 words.

  • Romanticism Extra Credit Assignment

    Since we are studying Romanticism/Dark Romanticism, for extra credit, research TWO additional authors that either were a part of Romanticism or Dark Romanticism. You may not use Edgar Allan Poe or Washington Irving. You must research the author's background and read one of their short stories. You need to write a brief biography of the author and a review of the short story. This must be done for each author. You can submit through this assignment.
