    This week we begin our study of the economies of Latin America.

    This week we wil continue learning about the governments of Latin America and focus on comparing and contrasting among the countries of Mexico, Brazil, and Cuba.

    This week we will begin our study of Latin American governments.

    This week we will focus on the climate, population, and natural resources found in Latin American countries.

    Welcome back!  After the last coup[le of weeks of cold and snow,  I think it is safe to say we just might have a normal week.  this week we will celebrate students with Honors Day on Friday. 


    We will be leaning about Latin America in this unit and will begin with map skills and learning about the different environmental issues found in these countries

    Students will present their projects this week.  I am very excited to see what all they have learned!

  • Week of 12/11/17 - 12/15/17

    This week we will be working on our Christmas Around Europe Projects. Students will present their projects next week.

  • Week of 12/4/17- 12/8/17

    This week we will be studying the Cold War.  We will analyze the ways in which it affected not only Europe, but countries throughout the globe including the United Startes. Next week, we will begin our final project over Europe.  This should take us to through the last week before Christmas Break and the end of the semester.  Wow!

  • Week of 11/27/17 - 12/1/17

    Welcome back!  I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving.  If yours was like mine, we were more productive than restful.  The next few weeks are usually the most wonderful and most hectic, schedule-challenging time of the year.  We have spoken in class concerning that the last day before Christmas Break is also the last day of the first semester.  We also discussed the necessity of using time in all classes wisely and productively so as to minimize time needed at home to complete assignments.  They seem to understand that the next four weeks (although full of fun and anticipation for many wonderful events leading up to, during, and after Christmas) can quickly become daunting; therefore the practice of healthy time management is key to success and less stress.   This week we will be covering the GSE concerning the Holocaust and the impact it had on both Europe and throughout the globe.

    This wek we will continue to focus on conflicts in Europe.  We will have a guest speaker on Tuesday to speak to us about Germany behind the Berlin Wall.  We will have a quiz on Wednesday which was postponed from last week.  Remember NO SCHOOL next week.  Have a peaceful and restful Thanksgiving.

  • Week of 11/6/17 - 11/10/17

    This week we will begin our study of conflicts in Europe.  We will begin with World War I.  We also clelbrate Veterans' Day on Friday.  

  • Week of 10/30/17 - 11/3/17

    Wow! This week we begin November.  How did that happen so fast?  This week we will complete our study of European government and begin our study of European economics with a focus on those of Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom. We are looking at an assessment (test) on November 7.

    This week we will complete our in-class project over European culture and begin our study of the various forms of government found there. GOOD LUCK TO OUR FOOTBALL TEAM AS THEY COMPETE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP ON TUESDAY 10/24.  GO BULLDOGS!

    This week we will be studying the different cultures found in various countries throughout Europe  We will be looking at similarities and differences and how they shape the continent.  Students will complete an in-class project due Friday. (Due to Milestones Field testing, the project has been extended through Monday.

  • Week of 10/9/17 - 10/10/17

    This is a VERY short week as Fall Break is Wednesday, October 11- Friday, October 13.  We finished the 3 major religions of Europe last week which means we are ready for a test.  A completed/corrected study guide over environmental issues, religion, and location of Europe will come home Monday.  A test will follow on Tuesday.  This will be the first test this year with essay questions.  Study hard then enjoy some well deserved rest!  Happy Fall, Y'all! smiley

  • Week of 10/2/17-10/6/17

    This week we will begin our study of Europ.  We will complete a map on Monday with a Quiz over the map on Friday.  We will have a Test next Tuesday (before Fall Break) over environmental issues in Europe, the major religions in Europe, an an analysis over the Map of Europe.

  • Week of 9/25/17 - 9/29/17

    October (and hopefully cooler weather) is almost here.  This week we will continue with our study of economics.  We will focus on the various types of economies found in the world and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  We are planning for another short test Friday over these topics. Look for a study guide to come home. 

  • Week of 9/18/17 - 9/22/17

    Due to Labor Day and Hurricane Irma, we will continue to study Economics and Personal Finance throughout this week with a focus on budgets.Test on Friday.

  • Week of 9/11/17 - 9/15/17

    This week we will continue to study Economics and add Personal Finance.   On Friday, we will welcome guest speaker, Ms. Graves, to our class to speak on personal finance.

  • Week of 9/4/17 -9/8/17

    Don't forget, Labor Day is Monday.  We will begin studying Economics this week.  We will learn about suply and demand and how resources are distributed 

  • Week of August 28 - September 1

    This week is HOMECOMING/SPIRIT WEEK.  We continue our study on systems of government as we look at the different forms of autocracies and constituional monarchies.  GO DAWGS!

  • Week of 8/21/17-8/25/17

    This week we will begin studying the systems of government we will find in 6th grade Social Studies.  We will start with the two forms of democracy (Presidential and Parliamentary) and finish with the forms of autocracy (Absolute Monarchy and Dictatorship) and Constitutional Monarchies.

  • Week of 8/14/17 - 8/18/17

    This week we will continue working on Map Skills with a focus on longitude and latitude.

  • 8/10/17 Welcome Back!

    What a great First Week This has been!  As we have gotten accustomed to using lockers and moving throughout a new building, we are also learning about Map Skills.  This unit will continue  through next week.  MARK YOUR CALENDARS for  a Map Skills test next FRIDAY (8/18/17).
