Description:

Honors 10th Literature and Composition is a rigorous, performance-based, interactive course focused on the study of literary genres including short story, novel, poetry, drama, and nonfiction.  Works will be studied thematically. Representative literary works are surveyed for content, style, form, diction, and relevancy to our time and culture.  Various print and non-print texts from many cultures and subcultures will be discussed and analyzed through written, verbal, and non-verbal methods.  The course is based on the Georgia’s Common Core curriculum for 10th grade.  Emphasis is placed on the development of critical and analytical thinking skills through classroom discussion of texts, writing, and presenting.  Outside reading and the study of vocabulary are required in this course.  Additionally, students will practice the writing process and produce works that include literary analysis, argument, and research examples.
