Our reading block will consist of three components: the interactive read aloud, shared reading, and differentiated reading instruction. During our interactive read aloud, I will be reading aloud a book that is above grade level. In the shared reading portion of our reading block, we will all be reading texts that are on the third grade lexile level. Finally, during differentiated reading instruction, students will read books on their instructional reading level. This means that students will be in small groups reading books that can be read with 90% accuracy. Throughout each component of our reading block, we will have discussions about vocabulary and reading strategies. Students will also write written responses to the texts that we read.
