English Language Arts (ELA) class is where your child will take part in reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities. The goal is for students to not only become good readers and writers, but for them to develop a love for reading and writing.

"The more that you READ, the more things you will KNOW. The more that you LEARN, the more places you'll GO." ~Dr. Suess

    The R.A.C.E. Strategy

Answering open-ended response questions is an important task in third grade. We do this using the R.A.C.E. strategy. We start by Restating the question, Answering the question, Citing examples from the text, and Explaining how the EVIDENCE from the text supports your answer. Click the "RACE" link on the side to watch a video about this strategy.
