  • Week of Oct 16

    We will finish our Turn of the Century unit this week as we locate and learn about the economic activity of Chicago and Pittsburgh during this time period. Students will have a test over this unit on Friday. 

  • Week Oct. 9th

    We will continue studying immigration this week. Why did immigrants come to the U.S.? Where did they come from? Where did they settle? Students will have homework on Monday. 

  • Week of Oct 2

    We will be researching America's changing role in the world at the turn of the century this week. This will include the Spanish-American War, building the Panama Canal, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, and immigration. Students will have homework on Wednesday. 

  • Week of Sept 25

    We will finish researching our inventors early this week before moving on to America's expanding role in the world. We will test cattle drives, Black Cowboys of Texas, and inventors on Thursday. 

  • Week of Sept 18

    We will continue with out Turn of the Century unit this week. We will be researching cattle trails, black cowboys, and the Wright brothers this week. Students will have homework tonight, and we will test next week. 

  • Week of Sept 11

    We have finished our study of the American Civil War and Reconstruction. We will test this information on Tuesday before we begin our Turn of the Century unit. In this unit, we will focus on cattle trails, black cowboys, inventors, America's expanding role in the world, and immigration. Students will have homework on Wednesday. 

  • Week of Sept 5

    We will be researching Reconstruction after the Civil War this week. We will look closely at the effects on the North and South, the 13-15th amendments, Freedmen's Bureau, sharecropping, and Jim Crow laws. Students will have homework on Wednesday, and the test is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 12th.

  • Week of Aug 28

    We will finish researching major events and leaders of the Civil War this week and test on Friday. The test will also review the causes of the Civl War. Please study a little each night! The interactive notebook and class pages are great resources.

  • Week of Aug 21

    We will be researching major events during the Civil War. This will include Ft. Sumter, Gettysburg, Atlanta Campaign, Sherman's March to the Sea, and Appomattox. Students will not have homework or test this week.  Helpful Link: https://www.ducksters.com/history/civil_war.php

  • Week of Aug 14th

    We will continue with the causes of the Civil War this week. We have looked closely at the issues of slavery and states' rights. This week we will research how Uncle Tom's Cabin and John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry were related to the war. Students should reread and have signed the "Causes of the Civil War"  passage for homework on Monday night. We will have a test over the causes on Thursday. 

  • Week of Aug 8th

    We will be researching the causes of the Civil War this week (slavery and states' rights). We will not have any test or homework this week.
