Reading is the most vital skill for success in life. We spend a lot of time each day reading together, listening to each other read , reading to ourselves or participating in our new MYON program. I feel that students benefit from both phonics instruction (learning to sound out words) and sight word vocabulary . This year we are taking a new approach to teaching reading through targeted instruction and working to fill in specific "gaps" that students have. We have a time dedicated each day for this targeted instruction with small group activities delivered by 2 certified teachers.
