    E.Q.: How do readers determine the THEME of a text?

    1. Monday -

    Students will read the short passage, "Bad Move", and complete the text dependent questions. Students will also write a complete paragraph using the R.A.C.E. strategy identifying the THEME of the passage.

    2. Tuesday -  

    Students will read the fable, "City Mouse", and complete a CLOSE READING Strategy for understanding. Students will complete the Evidence Chart covering the Fable.

    3. Wednesday -  

    Students will view a Power Point covering Primary and Secondary Resources using the Cornell Note Taking Strategy. Students will begin to build their background knowledge about the Holocaust. Students will then locate and find an example of Primary and Secondary Sources using the iPads.

    4. Thursday -  

    Students will complete the Timeline Research project for the following time period:  1934-1945; Students will have to plot five major events during this time period. They will use the iPads to locate information.

    5. Friday -  

    Students will begin reading our extended text for Unit 2, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Students will read Chapters 1 and 2 using the iPads. Students will begin to answer text dependent questions for comprehension.

    Journal Writing is completed daily.
