Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Would you like to graduate high school
with your first year or two of college complete? Would you like to graduate high school having earned a high school diploma and an Associate's Degree?
Thanks to the partnership between Polk School District, Georgia Highlands College, and Georgia Northwestern Technical College, students can participate in Dual Enrollment at both Cedartown and Rockmart High Schools through Polk County College and Career Academy. Dual Enrollment courses allow for students grades 9-12 to take college-level courses and earn concurrent credit toward a high school diploma and a college degree at no-cost to the student. Courses offered on our campuses by Georgia Northwestern Technical College are general education courses approved for transfer between accredited Technical College System of Georgia and University System of Georgia institutions. Courses offered on our campuses by Georgia Highlands College afford students the oppotunity to earn an Associate of Science degree in General Studies.

How do you become Program-Ready?
All students interested in Dual Enrollment with Georgia Northwestern Technical College must take the ACCUPLACER College Entrance Exam and score program-ready in the areas of Reading, Writing and Mathematics (Numberical and Algebra) to be eligible to register for dual enrollment classes.
All students interested in Dual Enrollment with Georgia Highlands must take the SAT/ACT and meet the minimum requirements based on your grade level to be eligible to register for Dual Enrollment classes.
Eligibilty Requirements for both GNTC and GHC
In order to help you prepare for the exam, links to resources have been provided (on the right). In addition, both high schools will be offering test-prep sessions to assist students in becoming program-ready. Remember, you will NOT be eligible to register for these courses if you do NOT score program-ready on the exam, so start preparing today!!
